First Look: Green Lantern Gets A 100-Page Spectacular Anniversary Treatment From DC Comics

by Oliver MacNamee

It’s going to be a busy year as more and more superheroes celebrate their 80th. First we had The Flash and now it’s the turn of Green Lantern to get a 100-page spectacular anniversary issue. Or rather, the various heroes who’ve swung the ring over the past 68 decades. From the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott through to the current king of the ring, Hal Jordan, with everyone in between.

Check out the covers that aim to represent each exciting decade of Green Lantern goodness as well as this spectacular cover by current The Green Lantern artist, Liam Sharp.  Sharp by name, sharp by nature. That’s one good looking cover worthy of being a film sized poster, Y’know, if anyone out there’s reading from DC Comics.

Include the talent of Geoff Johns, Darryl Banks, Charlotte Fullerton McDuffie, Sina Grace, Mike Grell, Jeff Lemire, Ron Marz, Denny O’Neil, Fernando Pasarin, Ivan Reis, Rafa Sandoval, Mariko Tamaki, Peter J. Tomasi, James Tynion IV, Robert Venditti, and more, this is going to be another packed issue coming from some fo the greatest creators to work on the title.

Check out each cover and the artist drawing each decade. For me it has to be the Sharp cover, but I can also see myself picking up the Ivan Reis cover too. Decisions, decisions. But they’re good decisions to have.
