Clover Press has hit the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to fund the release of Digital Lizards of Doom: Dizzy Doom Level 1, a graphic novel based on the YouTube space-fantasy adventure sereies, inspired by tabletop gaming, video adventure games, and Saturday morning cartoons. It’s written by Gabriel Valentin and illustrated by Ernie Najera.
Writer Gabriel Valentin says:
This book has been a labor of love for six years. And it feels amazing to be at a place to bring it out to the world. This is something we’ve been working toward for a long time and we’re so excited to partner with Clover Press to do it.
The comic takes place in a far-fetched universe where profits outweigh common goodness. The only way out is to win. It’s described as part Matrix, part Moebius, and all innovative. The comic reads like a role playing game.
Clover Press co-founder, Nate Murray added:
These are the kind of books I want to be making with Clover. As soon as you pick this book up, you’re blown away at how beautifully the art is presented. The choices Gabe (Valentin) made in his storytelling are bold and different. It’s a new way to read a graphic novel, but it feels intuitive and somehow right. It’s a rocking good time.
The Indiegogo campaign has already surpassed its funding goal. Rewards for the campaign include the comic itself, also with a special incentive cover by Mark Irwin and the chance to hang out with the team. There’s still plenty of time to get in on this action as the campaign has another 29 days remaining.
