While “We Didn’t Star the Fire” may be the theme song of this latest trailer for The Boys second season, it’s clear Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) is still intent on burning the whole thing down. And while Hughie (Jack Quaid) is unimpressed with Butcher’s new plan, the rest of the Boys may yet follow him into the inferno.
As also seen in the trailer, Homelander (Antony Starr) is ready to prove to the world that it still needs the Seven; but will Starlight (Erin Moriarty) continue to support his initiative considering everything she knows about the group and their corporate backers at Vought? Meanwhile, the company is still committed to embedding Supes in the US military, which can only lead to more problems and, perhaps, a bigger confrontation with the Boys.
Besides Quaid, Urban, Moriarty and Starr, the season will see the return of Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon and Karen Fukuhara as the other Boys while Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford and Nathan Mitchell return as the remaining Seven. Aya Cash joins them as Stormfront, an Instagram celebrity turned superhero whose, um, affiliations in the comics leaves us wondering when she’ll blow the dogwhistle.
The Boys returns to Amazon on September 4th.
