Dune: House Atreides’ #1 Sells Out Ahead of Release

by James Ferguson

BOOM! Studios has announced an early sell out for Dune: House Atreides #1, the premiere of the twelve-issue series adapting the novel of the same name. The first issue drops this week, but if you didn’t pre-order it, you may have trouble finding it. The publisher is rushing the book back to print so if you miss it now, you’ll be able to snag it next month.

Set in the years leading up the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning Dune—which inspired the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures— Dune: House Atreides transports readers to the far future on the desert planet Arrakis where Pardot Kynes seeks its ecological secrets in remote, desolate regions of the alien world.

Meanwhile, a violent coup is planned by Shaddam Corrino, the son of Emperor Elrood; far away, an eight-year-old slave Duncan Idaho seeks to escape his cruel masters; and a young man named Leto Atreides begins a fateful journey. These unlikely souls are drawn together first as renegades and then as something more, as they discover their true fate – to change the very shape of history!

Dune: House Atreides is adapted and scripted by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, who co-wrote the novel based on Frank Herbert’s notes. It’s illustrated by Dev Pramanik and colored by Alex Guimarães.

“Given the massively enthusiastic and passionate Dune fanbase, it is absolutely no surprise that the support for Dune: House Atreides #1 has been so overwhelming!” said Filip Sablik, President, Publishing & Marketing. “We can’t wait for fans in comics shops worldwide to hold the first issue in their hands, and the second printing will give everyone a chance to join the epic story all the way at the very beginning, with two beautiful brand new covers by Michael Walsh and Evan Cagle.”

Dune: House Atreides #1 is set for release on October 21st, 2020. The second printing will drop on November 11th, 2020.
