‘American Gods’ Returns January 10 On Starz

The war between the old and new gods resumes in January.

American Gods author and executive producer Neil Gaiman announced on Tuesday that the series will return January 10th, 2021 on Starz. The action finally moves to Lakeside, a community the author admit was inspired by Twin Peaks. There, Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) processes what he learned about his father last season while still getting up to new shenanigans. Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), meanwhile, takes on a new helper.

As Gaiman noted at NYCC a few weeks ago, the series offered the chance to explore what the other characters were doing while Shadow was in Lakeside. Wednesday’s new helper, Cordelia (Ashley Reyes), is part of that expansion. In his new letter to fans, Gaiman added, “The struggles of the gods and the people in Season Three of American Gods are the struggles of America. We didn’t think it would prove as timely when we plotted it, nor did I think the novel would still be relevant when I wrote it over 20 years ago. But I’m glad it’s happening now, in year when it feels as though diverse stories are being heard, and honored, and allowed to change the future.”

American Gods returns January 10th, 2021 on Starz.
