The next Thor film may feature the Asgardians of the Galaxy after all.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pratt has joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. The fourth film in the series sees Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi back at the helm and the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will become Thor during the story. Meanwhile, the Odinson himself (Chris Hemsworth) will likely be palling around with the Guardians of the Galaxy — he left with them at the end of Avengers: Endgame, after all.
The film will also feature Christian Bale and Tessa Thompson. Production is set to begin in Australia in the new year.
Of course, it remains to be seen how important the Star-Lord (Pratt) and the Guardians will be to the film. They may just drop the Odinson off on his new adventure or they may be integral with Odinson choosing to remain a Guardian at the film’s conclusion. As it happens, Hemsworth has a natural rapport with the Guardians actors and may end up leading the team depending on whatever happens in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The film is currently scheduled for release on February 11th, 2022.
