Using Animation To Heal And Transform — ‘If Anything Happens I Love You’ Mini-Review

by Tito W. James

In this Netflix original animated short, two parents grapple with grief over the death of their daughter in a school shooting. If Anything Happens I Love You utilizes nonverbal storytelling that cuts to the emotional core of loss and acceptance.

As one Netflix’s most viewed programs, hopefully this short will help those who have lost loved ones to gun violence. The nonprofit Gun Violence Archive proves that we are losing hundreds of children and thousands of teens to shootings every year. Survivors of school shootings have repeatedly cried out for gun-reform and it’s time that the whole nation listened.
