‘Cobra Kai’ Season 3 To Debut On New Year’s Day

by Erik Amaya

Cobra Kai is entering the ring of New Year’s Day entertainment offerings.

TVLine reports Netflix will launch the new season on January 1st, one week earlier than originally planned. Based on The Karate Kid film series, Cobra Kai sees Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) resume their rivalry after 30 years. But with a new generation of karate kids involved, the stakes have never been higher. As the new season begins, everyone is still reeling from the violent high school brawl between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-do dojos. Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) awakens from his coma, but is still in pretty bad shape. Johnny has apparently ceded control of the dojo to John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Daniel finally wonders if he’s the bad guy. Maybe it is finally time for Johnny and Daniel to team up.

The season will also feature appearances by Tamlyn Tomita and Yuji Okumoto as their Karate Kid Part II characters Kumiko and Chozen during Daniel’s pilgrimage back to Okinawa. And with the floodgates open for Karate Kid feature film cameos, we hope a certain member of the Cobra Kai organization from Part III will finally appear.

Cobra Kai returns to Netflix on January 1st.
