Although seen in a handful of moments late in Titans second season, Damaris Lewis makes her full Blackfire debut in a first-look photo from the upcoming third season of the HBO Max program. As in seen in picture above, Kory’s (Anna Diop) sister is going for the full Tamaran princess look in a costume fairly faithful to her various comic book appearances — particularly her initial George Perez look — but fans of the Teen Titans animated series will note a reversal of that design’s color scheme.
The costume, designed by Laura Jean Shannon, continues the show’s trend of comic book accuracy for just about every character except Kory. Although, considering the low-cut swimwear-esque things comic book Starfire likes to wear, we get why practicality might prevent her TV counterpart from sharing that aspect of her style. Nonetheless, Blackfire’s armor may lead to one of Kory’s adopting some for herself. After all, their family rivalry will lead to a drag out fight before too long and one needs to be properly attired for such an event.
Meanwhile, the third season of Titans will see Jason Todd (Curran Walters) break bad as The Red Hood as the rest of the team heads back to Gotham City. There, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) will be reunited with Barbara Gordon (Savannah Welch), who now serves as the city’s police commissioner. And considering Conor Leslie is still a member of the cast, we imagine she and Raven (Teagan Croft) will go on an adventure to answer the question “Who is Donna Troy?”
Titans returns later this year on HBO Max.
