When Bill Gaines reinvented his father’s company, EC Comics, Al Feldstein was more than just along for the ride. This versatile craftsman wrote, illustrated and/or edited a huge portion of some of the most influential comics ever done in the crime, suspense, horror, science fiction and drama genres, and that was before taking over MAD magazine, whose circulation under his editorship reached well into the millions.
