Republicans Denounce Joker, Cruella Deville, Scooby Doo

The recent Republican National Committee’s unflattering use of cartoons to depict President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate leader Harry Reid as, respectively, the Joker, Cruella Deville and Scooby Doo has exploded in their faces. The Washington Post is reporting that Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, not known for coddling Democrats, has come down hard on the fundraising strategy, saying “I can’t imagine why anybody would have thought that was helpful. I mean, typically, the way the parties raise money is because people believe in the causes they advocate.”

Republican Senator Orin hatch said he was “ashamed” by the demonizing of President Obama and Democratic leaders to raise money. “There’s no excuse for that stuff” he said. Prominent Republican donor Mark Demoss reacted to the leak of the RNC fundraising powerpoint presentation by informing Republican Chairman Michael Steele that he would no longer be contributing to the organization.
