Preview: Arcana Studio’s Grunts: War Stories

Arcana Studio has provided a preview of the GRUNTS: WAR STORIES trade paperback hitting shops this week, created by Shannon Eric Denton & Keith Giffen.

During World War Two, an American squad encounters a superhuman German unit and starts a Eugenics Race that carries into present day. Collecting the War Stories of the Grunts, there are contributions from Kevin Grevioux (New Warriors), Christopher E. Long (Wetworks), Dwight MacPherson (Archibald Saves Christmas), Howard Wong (After The Cape), Marc Bernardin/Adam Freeman (The Authority), Mike Bullock (The Phantom), Jimmie Robinson (Bomb Queen), Rob M. Worley (Scratch9) and many more! Illustrated by Matt Jacobs (Prototype)

” …a razor cutting style that energizes the subject matter, infusing WW2 era characters with a present day energy. Great stuff!” – DARICK ROBERTSON, artist and co-creator of Transmetropolitan and The Boys.

“From the muddy battlefields of France to the haunted ruins of modern-day, Chechnya, “Grunts”, pulls no punches when dealing with the hardcore violence of war. Perfectly marrying action, fantasy, horror and sc-fi into one wonderfully, dark and very original package with superb art (it’s good to see an M1 Garand, actually looking like an M1 Garand), and flawless writing, “Grunts” is like a bayonet to the gut, but one that leaves a smile on your face and salivating for the next attack.” – BILLY TUCCI, creator of SHI and writer/artist on Sgt. Rock
