I'm hoping some retailers (or publishers) can help answer my question concerning the use of reproducing cover artwork in print ads. For example, say a comic shop plans to have a massive sale on say.. Marvel Comics. Is it legal to toss on several cover shots to dress up the ad without getting approval from said publisher first?

Has anyone done this?

Thanks in advance!

Can't answer your direct question, but I wish comics makers would start running cover repros in their own house ads again. This practice definitely got me to buy more comics as a starry-eyed fan in the 70s and 80s. It gave me something to look for on the spinner racks!
