Well, all that aside, the question is: Does anyone still make a tabloid-size scanner for less than, say, $300-400 in the U.S.?
And since I use a Mac, I guess that limits my choices even further. Oh, well. The Plug-n'-Scan I use now is OK... and it was dirt cheap.
You'd think that since letter-size scanners come in such a range of prices (anywhere from $40 to $1500,) there'd be a similar range of prices for the larger sizes. How much more does a couple inches of glass, metal and plastic cost? And what are you paying for when you pay $1500 dollars for a letter-size scanner?
