Although Season 2 started out slow (as hell), it's strong points of character development are returning.
I think that the island might be a science research station/ prison that went wrong. WIth Swan station being the security post and other stations scattered about.
I really loved last nights episode focusing on Jin. Of all of the characters, his has been the most fleshed out and human.

True, Michael. Last night, you felt for Sun as she was remembering their first meeting, knowing that she thinks he's dead. Plus, Jin going after Michael shows how strong their bond is, I would say that Jin is the one who is going to die in a few weeks, laying down his life to get Walt back, but we already know who is going to be "Lost" forever. www.thehansofoundation.org

The darn internet ruined who dies for me. I'd also like to note that this is the first year that I have followed an episodic television show since the last season of Buffy: The vampire slayer.
I am really surprised that there has not been a thread on LOST before now.

Again, after 'Smallville' one has to wonder why Warner Brothers is not jumping on D.C. to get a 'Lost' comic book out to the market.

concerning who's gonna be "lost forever" rumor, i believe this 3 week break is actually for the producers to re-shoot the episode and change who actually gets "lost".
one might think they dont want to compete with the world series, but, why 3 weeks??? i say its for a reshoot.

An interesting point, Batfan. Why would they worry about competing with the world series because most who watch Lost could care less about baseball (and to go off during sweeps month?). And that would be interesting- the rumors get out, they find out, decide to change it up so that it blows everyone away when what they expect to happen doesn't happen.

I'm wondering if it's even possible there CAN be an explanation for all the occurences on the island. Like B. Michael noted, much seems to be the aftermath of a science/social experiment gone awry ,a Skinner Box for people you really didn't like or even one just left untended. The 1970's,80's? tech found in the bunker couldn't account for the either 'super-tech' or supernatural 'cloud of hate' that zips around every now and then though. Of course, the things that happened that seemed beyond coincidence like the numbers, ect. may not be coincidences at all. I'd almost say the director didn't intend for viewers to see the still or slowed shots of the cloud at all,but Locke and some of the others remarked about it when it creeped around them in the jungle, right,so that's part of canon? I think the second season is up to speed now and I'm enjoying both flashbacks and present time scenes equally, still one of the best shows on.

I know one theory floating around in a bottle is that they all sold their souls.
