Did they say Locke's dad was Sawyer's though? My understanding was he slept with Sawyer's mom, but did not father James, and that James took Locke's dad's name in revenge after his dad killed his mom and then shot himself.

Was it in the previews? Was it in TV Guide?" Nope. Right here on ol' Comicon. Props to you. .

My girlfriend guessed it, too. She has a better memory for these details. Originally posted by David Porta: .
Good speculation.
And how about this: he's also Kate's uncle.
Too much?
. Only too much if it turned out that Anthony Cooper (old Sawyer) was really Sawyer's dad--yuck! incest! I checked Wiki, because I forgot the stuff about her uncle "Wayne"--turns out it was implied that Wayne was really her biological father (she also thought Sawyer was possessed by Wayne in Season 2, which I vaguely recall). The abc wiki isn't as detailed as regular Wikipedia: http://lostwiki.abc.com/

I haven't seen anything to suggest Cooper was Sawyer's real father. My impression that the first time Cooper met Sawyer's mom, Sawyer was a little kid who already had a few years on him.
I do think Ben has become Locke's symbolic father, inspiring in Locke new heights of cleverness as to how to con people into doing his (Locke's) dirty work for him.

Did that business about Locke publicly killing his old man as a rite of passage to join the Others seem a little over the top and uncharacteristic of the Others as we've come to know them? Whatever crimes they've committed so far have been justified,to their own minds at least,by their mission and seen later in a different light. This type of execution seemed like a bloody spectacle that wasn't in their collective character-- if Locke had followed through at that point of course. Maybe they all just kowtow to Ben,although we've seen plenty of dissension there as well.

Ben said something about how the guy had to be removed because his presence was mucking with some mojo, or something like that. Maybe the whole thing is like one big groundhog's day, and our time traveler-repeater is trying to get it right this time. .

Good point,I guess enough of the Others think of Ben as this 'big picture guy' that if he says something is necessary they figure there's sufficient reason for it. The dark haired guy who gave Locke the file on Cooper suggested that some Others thought Ben was wasting effort with the fertility experiments,so not total agreement in that little cult.

What an amazing episode.
Ben is the only true member of the Dahrma Initiative while the rest of the "others" were the true island natives. Which asks where did they come from and how'd the get there?
And MQ, you werent so off on the daddy thing, it seems that everyone in the island (whome we've seen flashbacks of) have/had some sort of daddy issues in their lives, except for Juliet.
What really tripped me out is when Richard shows himself to young Ben, and he looked just like he looks now!
After seeing some screencaps, Jacob apparently is "for real" but he might be a ghost, or an invisible man, my guess is a ghost. At this time it's pointless to even speculate who he is or where he came from.
Screw everyone who says Lost has lost it. The key to a successful show is to keep you coming back for more, and with more mysteries it's doing just that. Some people just aren't patient enough to wait for the final payoff, they want their answers yesterday.
