Just had to acknowledge the mentioning of Superman and the Flash on the last episode.

I'm glad neither Hurley nor Charlie actually quoted any of the various "race-stories," though. That might've been a little much, though I guess Hurley supplied the Mexican comic that Walt reads in season 1.

Yeah, that was good. It sounded like conversation real people might have, real comic book fan people anyway,as opposed to say the entire cast of Painkiller Jane who sound like, well, comic book characters.

I guess I'm just cynical, but I hope Jack and Claire aren't suddenly half siblings because the writers wanted to use up the brother, sister storyline they had planned when Boone & sister left the series. They seem like very different characters though.

Yeah, soon as I heard that bit, I paid attention to the credits to see if this episode was written by Brian K. Vaughn, and sure 'nuff it was, shoutin' out to the comics world.

Yeah, but if Supes has TOTAL control of his body, couldn't he too vibrate his molecules at super speed so that he could pass through the wall?

Oh, yeah, we were talking about LOST.

laugh

BTW (oh, god, i just typed BTW), I wonder if Jack will stop Juliette from doing whatever she's going to do by killing her- thus preparing Jack to be the new leader of the Others.

Then (taking our cue from comics, where the dead get better), zap him with a defibrilater or whatever, and he returns from death, resussitated. Voila! Vision fullfilled, and the hobbit isn't unemployed.
Actually, now that they've put all these references to the Biblical Abraham into Desmond's story, I'm thinking the thing they're playing up to is that Desmond will actively choose to not save Charlie, then have some miraculous, unexpected event happens--a golden ram, a smoke monster, something--that prevents Charlie from being killed after all.

Wasn't there something in the comics (way back when, pre-Crisis, Silver Age) about how Superman's Kryptonian molecular structure somehow precluded him from doing the same sort of vibrating-through-walls trick that Flash did all the time?

In the interest of covering this to a crazy degree,I'll point out that the original TV Superman demonstrated this ability-- once. Supes(George Reeve) was confounded by a crook hiding out in a cube constructed of a material even he couldn't smash his way into. Just because a nutty old astronomy professor told Superman that he could phase his way thru the walls of the cube,he did! Superman never showed this ability again in the series which was totally unconcerned with regular comics continuity and wacky even by Weisenger standards.

I don't recall it,David, but it wouldn't surprise me. He (Superman) did take a nasty fall in his bathroom, knocked his head and suffered amnesia for an episode! confused
