Just one small piece of information. Using those free Priority Mail Envelopes like jack described is illegal. They are only to be used when shipping Priority Mail. Not really any of my business what you guys do with them. Just wanted to point out that it could be a problem if a sharp-eyed PO employee spots it.

That's an interesting point, which if true must mean all the postal employees at my post office are turning a blind eye to it, because I've been doing it for years, have mailed HUNDREDS of packages this way through the same office and never heard a peep.

I'm not disputing what you are saying either, I'm just saying my experience is like that. I've never had a thing said to me about it.

Why would it be illegal? They don't charge for them, and you are using US mail properly marked to ship it.

This week I'm getting rid of all of my Adventures of Superman comics, my Alias issues (including #1!!), some Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the Species ashcans (for cheap!!), and All-Out War #1 (first appearance of Viking Commando).

From what I understand, the free packaging is provided because of the additional cost of shipping Priority. It is a perk, if you will, for paying a little extra for your postage. Using the free packaging and not paying the extra postage makes the PO lose money, thus, it is frowned upon and I believe illegal. Maybe "illegal" is tough word, but definitely against the rules.

I guess in the long run, someone has to pay for the free packaging that people use incorrectly. Probably in the form of higher postage rates for everyone else.

This week I'm getting rid of all of my Alpha Flight issues (including some early Jim Lee art), Busiek and Pacheco's Arrowsmith mini with the Astro City/Arrowsmith flip-book, all of my America's Best Comics books (including the first issues of Tom Strong, Top 10, Promethea, and Tomorrow Stories), and the somewhat comical Angel and the Ape 4-issue mini from the early '90s (not the Vertigo mini).
