Besides Watchmen and DKR. Mine is Watchmen, but, for this, I will say the first Starman TPB. What a relaxing book.

Probably my Kingdom Come hardcover. It's the comic that got me back into comics after a 4 year absence & I got Alex Ross to sign it.

If I would have read it sooner the Inhumans might be favorite, I've only recently read it & Jae Lee's art just blew me aways.

I also love my first Planetary trade & it too has sentimental value as I got John Cassaday to draw a sweet Elijah snow sketch on the front cover & almost a paragraph of writing on the back.

The Nevermen - I trade of the short lived & extremely underrated Dark Horse mini-series. Absolutely one of my all-time favorite stories.

So many other amazing trades it's so hard to pick just one.

I'd have to say Akira, or Lone Wolf and Cub. Dark Horse puts out great trades.

Other than the requisite american books like dark knight etc and watchmen i have to say my most readable and enjoyable graphic novel is Judge Dredd:America... a fantatic book which i recommend to all, even those who stray away from the Dredd books due to the *movie*

Three-way tie:

Maus
Our Cancer Year
Stuck Rubber Baby

Special mentions:
From Hell (altho I bought it as a series and that's how I really think of it)
The King of Persia
Good-bye, Chunky Rice
Jar of Fools
I Never Liked You
It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken
Pastil, Pastil II and Pastille
Cages

That's excluding a lot of great and beloved stuff, but that's probably the tops, for me.

Mark Hempel's Gregory (DC/Pranha Press) is my favorite. I laughed out loud and I still laugh.

"You know, it's guys like Gregory that give psychosis a good name . . ."

Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics The Invisible Art (Tundra) was also a wonderful read.

And I'm really looking forward to Dark Horse's reprints of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy!

I think my favorite is the first Adventures of Barry Ween trade. There are a few reasons for that: 1)It wasn't the first TPB I bought but it was the catalyst for my new TPB obsession. 2) It was the first true non-superhero book I bought. 3) It was the first Oni book I bought. 4) It was damn funny.

My favorites are, I'll think of more later:

Dark Knight Returns (The first one)by Frank Miller

Swamp Thing: Anatomy Lesson by Alan Moore

Breathtaker by Mark Wheatley and Marc Hempal

Usagi Yojimbo (the entire trade collection)by Stan Sakai

and buncha of others, mostly trade collections, that I can't think of right now.
