Sounds like you've made up your mind, but if you come into another spare $20 get Watchmen. A bloody *classic* by Alan Moore, thought-provoking and self-contained. You'll dig it massively. It's deep, full of seemingly throwaway background detail that furthers the story, and has killer art by Dave Gibbons. Buy it, you'll like it.

And for anyone with a spare $30, get the Alan Moore "Supreme: Story of the Year." It's less profound, but a must for anyone enamoured of Superman archetypes. The art is a mixed bag, but the story will make any old school Superman fan very happy. I bought it even though I couldn't really spare the money, and made my brother swear not to tell my mother about my purchase, or the cost ^^; . It was worth it ^_^ .

I don't have it. I really only like Mainstream Marvel Universe stuff. Squadran Supreme is not in the "main" Marvel Universe. I have all the Essentials and a boatload of TPB's...

Yeah, I hear where you're coming from. I only watch action movies, and at that, only Arnold Schwarzeneggar movies. In fact, only the Terminator movies and Predator. I tried watching "Kindergarten Cop" and "Running Man" once, but I didn't enjoy them. So I really don't think I would enjoy comedies or sci-fi.

I find it's best to limit myself. If you spread your interests around, they wear thin.
