a reply to every comic store employee's nightmare question, the oh-so-vague looking for...

Back in the early nineties some book publisher, Vintage, I think, ran a short series of experimental collaborations between literary authors and comic artists, printed in small trade-paperback form. The one I'm looking for was a collaboration between, I believe, David Mazuchelli (sort of a scratchy expressionistic style) and author Paul Auster. The book in question was--though I'm not sure--"City of Glass", a post-moderny detective novel. Now. Does anyone here recall the book I'm talking about? Is it what I think it is? And does anyone know where I can find it?
