To all Indy Comics:

I had no idea which board to post this on so I'll put it on all of them.
I am a reviewer of comic books. I run a web site called the Truth. I was tired of reading reviews of comics that say the book is great and then I buy it or order it and it stinks. So I decided that I would tell the Truth. I am currently looking for more books to review. I have serveral reviews already lined up but I need more. I also conduct interviews with the creators, artists, and writers of the comics. Check out my site and tell me what you think.

If you like what you see tell me and if you don't then tell me what I could do better. If you are interestd in letting me review your comic with a possible follow up interview then email me at berogers@mephis.edu
thanks
till then I am

To the creator of the 'truth' site: do you believe that reviewers aren't telling the truth simply because you don't agree with them?

Hey Joe!

I don't know that it's because he doesn't agree with them so much as it's very hard to remain objective. You know this yourself after the reviews you've written.

I've only written one absolutely unfavorable review. Y'know, the kind that says that "this book isn't even fit to wrap fish in! I spit on you! Ptui! Ptui!" heh... I had no problem with writing that. Several Months later, I was going to review a book from someone I knew, and it stunk on ice. I mean, it was just horrid. I hated it. Still do. Now, this was a really nice guy, and plenty talented. Massive potential for growth was there, and truth was, he was better by leaps and bounds by the time the book hit the stands. I couldn't do it. I just couldn't. So, since I couldn't retain my objectivity, I stopped reviewing altogether.

Sure, I do the occasional shout out for a book that I'm really digging, and comment about the stuff I think folks should check out. I've always been a firm believer in talking up the titles you dig. Best kind of advertising there is. heh... But I'm not reviewing anymore. Nope. If I can't give my honest opinion in public on one book, I can't expect anyone to believe what I say about the rest of the books, now can I?

Of course, this is just my opinion. And everyone has the right to my opinion. heh...

I'm running a review project myself (graphic novels, reviewed in print medium, unusual market segment -- not allowed to mention it too loudly at present, but drop me a line for details or wait awhile and I'll eventually do full coverage here). The purpose of it is to SELL graphic novels on a continuing basis, so I have no intention of lying to the audience -- that may get a sale right now, but in the long term, it'll lose the customer.

My policy on things that suck is to say what's wrong with them; and if I can't recommend a book on some level (the audience consists of people who aren't buying for themselves), then I won't review it at all.
