I don't know that it's because he doesn't agree with them so much as it's very hard to remain objective. You know this yourself after the reviews you've written.
I've only written one absolutely unfavorable review. Y'know, the kind that says that "this book isn't even fit to wrap fish in! I spit on you! Ptui! Ptui!" heh... I had no problem with writing that. Several Months later, I was going to review a book from someone I knew, and it stunk on ice. I mean, it was just horrid. I hated it. Still do. Now, this was a really nice guy, and plenty talented. Massive potential for growth was there, and truth was, he was better by leaps and bounds by the time the book hit the stands. I couldn't do it. I just couldn't. So, since I couldn't retain my objectivity, I stopped reviewing altogether.
Sure, I do the occasional shout out for a book that I'm really digging, and comment about the stuff I think folks should check out. I've always been a firm believer in talking up the titles you dig. Best kind of advertising there is. heh... But I'm not reviewing anymore. Nope. If I can't give my honest opinion in public on one book, I can't expect anyone to believe what I say about the rest of the books, now can I?
Of course, this is just my opinion. And everyone has the right to my opinion. heh...
