And I apologize to Charles for thinking you might prove to be as much of a challenge as he (sometimes) is.
Then tell him so instead of mucking around with me. Don't hide your love for him by trying to obscure it with petty and dull arguments which far too often ignore the gist of any actual disagreement.

Unlike Charles, who has far more patience with you than I feel you merit and is willing to give you a grudging amount of respect, I feel that you're a bit too dry and pedantic to bother with most of the time. The fact that you're haunted by your Groth hate and try to warp so many of your arguments in that direction is only part of the reason that it's clear you're nowhere near as astute a logistician as you seem to think you are. You lack a sense of irony and wit, you get bogged down in minutia which obscures any larger point, and your "intellectual" arguments are often intellectually dishonest. It's not that it's hard to take your arguments apart, it's just that you aren't varied enough in your strategies to make it much fun to play with you.

Charles is welcome to you, and you should be very grateful that he chooses to use you as a playmate. Personally I think he could do a bit better for himself, but to each his own.

Be fair, John Byrne's pretty good about telling anecdotes about his own stories.

It's a low-class kinda thing to get on your high horse after you've started the ad hominem attacks.

I've already had my say on your logical shortcomings, so consider that my last word on that subject.

Isn't it interesting how the Hamletesque phrase, "Methinks she doth protest too much" originally had a meaning different than it has now? In the play it meant that such-and-such a character was too loud in her protestations of grief-- not, as it commonly does now, that the character was protesting that, say, she wasn't upset by an insult when it's plain she really was.

Oh babyman, I guess I was right about you, you really are more clueless than I gave you credit for.

Seeing as how you've spent quite a considerable time wildly attacking Groth and Fantagraphics completely out of context, and then snarkily attacking anyone who has pointed this out, it's fairly laughable that you choose to whine about anyone else starting the attack.

As for you having stated your last word on any subject, I tend to disbelieve your capabilities. Not that I'd at all mind if it were true, but pattern suggests otherwise. I am however, hoping that you do actually have this heretofore undisplayed capability. Personally I think that you secretly know that you've been accurately described as pedantically humorless and less than logical, and you want to leave that discussion behind as quickly as possible, but maybe you're just upset about being outted about your true feelings.

Who knows?

You must be Alicia Silverstone's biggest fan from the number of times you use the word "clueless."

"As for you having stated your last word on any subject, I tend to disbelieve your capabilities."

You do realize that I can find a lot of ways to trash you or Bryan Talbot that don't involve repeating statements about your deficient logical abilities? That my saying "I'm not going to repeat myself" is not me running up the white flag?

You wish.

Nice attempt to change the subject with the Groth/Fantagraphics thing.
