UN resolution

Thank you - France, Vanuatu, Togo and Russia for your blessings if nothing else to help the US “legitimize” a done deal.

Anybody think this will make things easier?

I might be missing something (I'm not being sarcastic; it's dense reading and I might be missing something) but where does the resolution legitimize US action? It looks to be a pretty straightforward UN recognition of the new Iraqi government, not a thumbs-up to the invasion.

Maybe.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

You didn’t really and I was …being sarcastic that is about this grudging formulation for the UN to still do nothing but toss a doily over the Interim Government and claim a “leading role.”

At best it notes:
Quote:
Notes that the presence of the multinational force in Iraq is at the request of the incoming Interim Government of Iraq and therefore reaffirms the authorisation for the multinational force under unified command established under resolution 1511 (2003) having regard to the letters annexed to this resolution;
