Take a quick sample, send it off, get the results as to whether it's human, and keep it filed on record. Cops do that shit all the time. And if it turns out to be nothing, oh well. Still, it wouldn't have saved any lives, but it could help if an investigation is needed. And most people don't own chainsaws with blood on them, if that's what it was.
