According to a review in yesterday's NY Times of a collection of her short stories, "Talented Mr. Ripley" author Patricia Highsmith wrote Superman comics during the (late) 1940's.

Too bad Rich Morrissey isn't around to confirm or deny this, but can anyone else shed some light?

i feel fairly sure that she didn't write Superman, but I do know that she wrote supermEn. She moved to NYC when the Fleicher studio became Famous, circa late 1945. She then (I believe) worked for Binder shop, where she wrote a few of the superhero titles that they did for Nedor-Standard-Pines (Fighting Yank, I think). I understand she later did work for Marvel. I do not believe she worked for DC. This was the age before credits,and the only stories with her name on them were text pieces.

As the last few Paramount Superman cartoons were released as "Famous Studios" cartoons, she might have worked on them. I'll have to check my tapes.
