Almost two years ago, a newcomer to the comics field first made public his plans to launch a new comic book company, CrossGen. Publisher/CEO Mark Alessi came to comics after making his fortune in the computer industry. His interest in comics motivated him to launch a comic book company with a different philosophy. In early 2000, CrossGen published its first four ongoing titles; the company has since grown to seven books, with three more coming up in the next six months. Alessi, a busy man whose enthusiasm for his work is evident as soon as he begins talking about comics, recently spoke with CSN's Cliff Biggers about the CrossGen approach, as well as his plans for the company and his feelings about the comics industry.
