Comic Relief, the Bay Area’s original comic bookstore, is proud to host the US premiere of Devil’s Advocate: The Art of Coop. To bring this l’il devil in with the fury it deserves, Coop will be in the store signing copies of the book on Saturday, November 10.
Coop is the evil offspring of Vargas and Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. From devil girls to outer space biker babes, Coop has earned acclaim and notoriety in magazines including Juxtapoz and Art? Alternatives. His work is appreciated by rockers and serious art collectors alike, and has graced t-shirts, posters, lighters, skateboards, and many a tattoo. Coop’s art has shown in some of the nation’s most prestigious alternative art galleries and is sought out by collectors across the globe.
Devil’s Advocate is the first comprehensive collection of Coop’s art to be published. The 208 page 10 x 10 inch collection includes never before seen graphics, commentary by the artist, and a fold out centerfold with all of his posters. This is the dark bible Coop fans have been clamoring for.
Coop will be at Comic Relief from 1:00 – 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 10. Comic Relief is located at 2138 University Ave. just a block from the UC Berkeley campus.
Since 1987, Comic Relief has earned an international reputation for its commitment to graphic literature and contemporary art, culture, and illustration. On November 11 the store will also host a signing with Couscous Express and Channel Zero author Brian Wood.
