Hunky "Superman" star Dean Cain chased down and helped capture rocker Rod Stewart's oldest son after he allegedly beat a young patron at a posh Malibu, Calif., eatery.

Sean Stewart, 21, was busted after Cain and his brother witnessed the bizarre attack, tore after the suspect and cornered him in a nearby store.

"Dean really turned into the 'Man of Steel' when he saw what happened," an eyewitness said.

Jason Rogland, 19, suffered a concussion in the bizarre attack that left him unconscious outside the restaurant Nobu on Cross Creak Road.

"It was pretty horrific. My son was really beat up," Jason's father, Abe Rogland, told The Post last night.

The assault occurred in front of the famed restaurant as Stewart and Rogland passed each other.

Abe said Stewart suddenly attacked Jason, kicking and punching him.

"It was entirely unprovoked. Jason didn't do a thing. [Stewart] was out of his mind," Abe said.

"My son didn't even know this guy."

Standing nearby were Cain, who starred in the hit ABC series "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and his brother, Roger.

They quickly leaped into action and chased Stewart to a nearby video store, where they stood guard until the cops came, a witness said.
