Started reading the latest Wizard and there's a letter from Alessi challenging Jemas to join him in a panel at Megacon to debate their differing philosophies on retailing, compensation, and product delivery. Jemas had a funny response but it would make for an interesting debate.

Well, someone's gotta ask it:
What was Jemas' response?

Alessi promised to fly Jemas down to Florida at Alessi's expense, etc. Jemas wrote a letter to Wizard stating that ther were philosophical differences between his approach to basketball and Michael Jordan's approach and offered to fly Jordan down to New Jersey to play one on one with him, scheduling the game the weekend of Megacon: "Hope you can keep your calendar clear."

That's funny and surprising. And here I figured the two would see eye to eye with a lot of stuff regarding collecting and speculating. ------------------ Regards, Jamie Coville The History of Superhero Comic Books! http://www.geocities.com/comichistory/ The CollectorTimes.com http://www.CollectorTimes.com

What's funnier, is that someone is actually reading Wizard.

I guess Jemas prefers the fanboy method of posting juvenile rants and putdowns rather than looking someone in the face where such antics would likely get his lights punched out and debating his views on their merits.

It is funny. Juvenile and very unprofessional, but funny. WARNING: CHEAP SHOT AHEAD! I'm so glad we have a comedian running Marvel these days. The company's bee a joke for some time now. ------------------ Matthew Hawes COMICS UNLIMITED Evansville, IN

Yeah, that sounds fair, "come debate me on my home turf during a convention that I run."

So there aren't any Marvel fans in Florida? Or is your point that Alessi will only allow CrossGen readers into Megacon? In any event, neither of these points would affect the merits of the debate. The fact that Alessi lives in Florida doesn't give him the kind of advantage that a sports team might have.

"Yeah, that sounds fair, "come debate me on my home turf during a convention that I run." "
I seem to remember somebody offer someone else a debate several years ago and they were dusted.
It seems to be a bit of DC animosity reeking here as (correct me if I am wrong), CrossGen has picking up talent from DC.
As for the debate idea, I think Mark is on to something, but I think it is wasted on the poor man's Jerry Lewis at Marvel. Yep, I will eagerly wait those nine cent comic books!
