Last week, U.S. forces killed what they said were Taliban fighters in central Uruzgan province, north of Kandahar. Afghan security sources, however, said on Tuesday the Americans had been misled by rival tribal factions into killing an anti-Taliban commander, Abdul Qadoos, and 17 of his men.

The Afghans also sought an explanation for 27 prisoners seized in the raid by U.S. special forces. They claim those in custody include officials loyal to the Karzai government, among them a police chief and members of a district council in Uruzgan.

There have also been reports in Ghazni province that rival warlords are looting villages under the pretext of helping the United States root out Taliban and al Qaeda leaders. U.S. military officials disavow any connection to these groups. They say American forces attack only legitimate targets that are carefully checked by intelligence sources.

But U.S. officials have also admitted that it is difficult to obtain reliable information in a nation where warlords have a tradition of shifting loyalties.

Since this thread is still going, I'll chime in to add that John's second column will be coming out this Thursday.

Since you have such overwhelming knowledge about what is being told to the American forces, perhaps you can use your informants for a much better purpose.
You don't truly believe that the American forces are being 'led' by the Afghans do you? They point, and the Americans just blindly fire off their missles?

Well I know a guy named Hugh, but I don't have any kind of exclusive on him... just friends, really.

I merely provided the links as concrete examples of what I posted before: there is evidence that 'they point, the military shoots' is EXACTLY what is happening. But hey, suggesting a little context and a little foresight these days is tantamount to treason 'aint it?
