And you realise the "All British! All Gay!" thing was a response to this thread, don't you? NO !!! You're kidding me, right ? The humourless freaks wouldn't do that.

Originally posted by Adrian Brown: True, but that was between Steve and Warren, not between Steve and THE WEF. If I remember the thread correctly, at least one poster took Ellis' exchange with Bissette as implied permission to jump in with abuse of his own, and Ellis didn't see fit to reprimand him. It was similar to the thread about Peter David's challenge to Marvel, when forum regulars responded to David with a pervasive bleating of "The dinosaurs are dead at Marvel! Baaa!" I would have thought Ellis would find it embarassing. It doesn't really help one's argument when one's supporters repeat it verbatim. Of course, I have to ask myself, why do I even care to post on this? I lurk on a couple boards, but I really have trouble understanding the attachment people have to them. I can't imagine having strong feelings one way or the other about the message board communities or the personas individuals cultivate on them.

. You may have to ask yourself how many people did not do so. http://forums.delphiforums.com/ellis/messages?msg=36049.1 Where you will find a couple of people "jumping in with abuse" who are reprimanded by several people, myself included. We then have a deterioration of people (not regulars I note) wanting to rake over the gossip. Interestingly, when I went to Steve's forum to join further discussion, I found myself banned. Not by Steve, but by the personality who runs those forums. Fair enough. No need to pursue it further. I mention it here in the interests of balance.

God bless those who pay for Delphi. Think you can you search out the Peter David thread I was talking about?
You are to be commended for standing up against the assholes.
That thread sure got baffling as people responded to posts which were subsequently deleted. One argument against ruthless message board administration, I guess.

There've been several glitches that have cropped up in the software used for the forum - the whole board has crashed several times - perhaps you were a casualty in one of those cases? If so, it would be easy to reinstate your name. If you care enough to, email Jack and see if that's what happened(Steve's forum IS great, and he won't ban or gag you for disagreeing with him - and I've yet to read even one post by him where he's anything but cordial and well-spoken. Steve ain't gonna call you a cunt.) If you WERE actually banned (and it wasn't a glitch), I think that's uncool. I don't agree with a lot of what you say, but you were the only WEFer to come over and discuss the thread.

It must be taken into account that "erico" is either a troll or really is an unhinged freak who can't sleep at night because he thinks Mark Alessi is putting saltpeter in the water supply and is using high-frequency mind control rays to make people read Crossgen comics, so either way he probably looks like that arrest photo of Nick Nolte only all the time.
And yes, not everyone at the WEF were brainwashed cultists but far too many were of the Comic's (Self)Righteous Anger type, boldly charging into frays armed with cliches "BLARGH YOU WANT MAKE COMICS LAME ALL COMICS WILL BE 80'S CARTOON SHOW LISENCES TRAITOR JUST KEEP ON BUYING PERVERT SUITS SEXMEATS POP COMICS SEXY BASTARD'S MANIFESTO KEEP BUYING PERVERT SUITS TRAITOR ARGH BLARGH KICKSPLODE KICKSPLODE KICKSPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODE!!!!!!!" and a whole bunch of other nonsense.
Again, that's not totally accurate.
I find a lot of the so-called "comics activism" that goes on to be couched within the realm of "fashionable anger" and "keepin' it real". And some of those people posted on the WEF, and they were quite unpleasant about their comics activism and other people got a bad impression.

Reading that "discussion," if you'd like to call it that, between Warren Ellis and Steve Bissette certainly spoke to the relative quality of each of those individuals, didn't it?

Yes it did. Can you imagine having to sit across the dinner table from someone that vicious and generally unpleasant? Here's hoping he isn't making some wife's life miserable (no idea if he has a family).

Nick Nolte and I are alike in that we don't let a bad hair day slow us down.
