All I know is I am pretty tired of the post-Watchmen anti-superhero genre. Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, and other British writers seem to loathe the genre but continue to use its themes in their stories. Give me a fun book like Savage Dragon or Ultimate Spider-Man any day. Invisibles was nice but a bit pretentious. Even Moore himself has turned away from the bleak stories, check out Tom Strong.

Who can say why talanted people take a disliking to each other. Alex Toth and Gil Kane thought the world of each others work (Toth called Kane "The Master" and Kane refered to Toth as "The Artist's Artist) but on a personal level they evidently HATED each other and both were holding some sort of personal grudge against the other from way back.

Speaking of Grant Morrison - is there anywhere I can get "The New Adventures of Hitler" from? I read a description and it sounded just fascinating. Anyone know what happened to it and if the issues it came in are still available? I know it's not collected.

Are you sure you're not just looking for another feud to cheer on? What is it about comics fans that they have to seek out this sort of "intrigue" or "controversy", which has fuck-all to do with the actual work??? Why not just watch some pro-wrestling instead?

Morrison slept with his dog and kicked his mother.

I don`t remember Morrison`s stories being particularly grim with the exception of the recent Genosha story. And in term of over-intellectualising(is that a word?)because of Watchmen...Animalman, Doom Patrol, and The Invisibles went far beyond what Alan did and should never be compared with Watchmen since it`s not even the same breed.

Been visiting the Byrne board, haven't we? Just because Ellis is British and loathes superheroes, that doesn't mean that every Brit hates superheroes. It's pretty obvious from both his work and interviews that Morrison loves superheroes.

I have the individual Crises issues. They were a pain to track down. Here is hoping that someone like Avatar will reprint them.

I think New Adventures of Hitler is creator owned.

As far as I can tell:

Morrison kept being compared to Alan Moore in interviews. He got pissed off by it and said a few things that maybe he shouldn't, mostly out of annoyance, "here lies moon, second string, where's higgs"

Moore heard what Morrison was saying, got pissed off.

That was then. This is now.
