I like Wacker. He seems to me to be a funny guy who gives as good as he takes. I believe what he says regarding this whole thing. It makes sense to me as it was pretty much what I argued from the beginning (so I'm hardly not going to agree with him).

You may be right. In trying to sound dismissive, Wacker sounded to me -- and to other people -- like he really didn't know who this pesky Erik Larsen fellow was. That either makes him woefully ignorant for a Marvel Comics editor or just snotty for pretending.

Either way, I'm confident that Erik Larsen will be remembered as an actual creator and a successful company co-founder long after Wacker has returned to ... I dunno ... proof-reading greeting cards or marketing dog food, or wherever Marvel and DC get these junior editors from.

The odds for being remembered are more in Larsen's favor, true, but I don't buy his argument.

I've lost track of his argument. I just like insulting the corporate suits at Marvel and DC. Regarding the plagiarism of putting Obama in a comic, now that another Image comic is doing it, too (see my post a few pages back), I guess the point is moot. Pretty soon Obama will be getting ass-raped by the Joker in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA.

I heard on NPR that some guy in Chicago named his barber shop after him -- and business picked up (however the place was called "Osama's" before the change).

Erik Larsen was the person who wrote the infamous "Name Withheld" letter to the CBG and many people still knew who he was.

I don't know Erik from Adam, or what your point is, but here's that letter.

My point is that Erik Larsen is well-known enough in the comics community that even when he doesn't sign his name, people know it's him.

And I'd be willing to bet you would know Erik Larson from Adam.

So, your point is that Charles Reece and Steve Wacker should be taken literally when they use figures of speech?

Anyway, here's Dictionary.com's definition of "not know from Adam":

"to be unacquainted with: He says hello to us every morning, but we don't know him from Adam."
