Yeah, SCAD is supposed to be this great Sequential Art college. But besides yourself, who else has SCAD produced that has had any notable success? Ashley Holt? Jennie Breeden? I think I heard of one guy doing background cleanup for Disney (but I think his major was Illustration, anyway). And would you say that your moderate success had anything to do with SCAD connections?

Shit, occasional SCAD instructor Scott Hampton has even gone off in interviews about how value-less art school is and how he didn't need art school. When I left there in '99, the tuition alone was over $60K. Now it's close to $100K. SCAD is just a bad joke.

Since moving out here and not just counting Les and Chuck and other SCAD alumni who have done well at what they've sought out to do, such as figure concepts for G.I.Joe, some acting in movies, and others doing more behind the scene work, I'm starting to lean more and more towards SCAD. At least try it for a semester.
What I've found out since being back in college and now that I don't have the luxury of being back on the west coast is that my educational opportunities are limited.
Half my credits from my other colleges weren't even accepted here at the school I'm in now, so while working on a double major it makes the time go by fucking sloooooow. I can only take 2 or 3 classes a semester especially with trying to work as many hours as I can, in split shifts often which suck, and trying to raise a family, plus another baby, maybe twins on the way. (I'll know by July 6th hopefully if it's just one baby on the way, holy shit.).
That's the hustle here at the jc level. Now as to where and what school I want to attend afterwards? Well SCAD seems the better option when faced with the University out here that has jack shit for an art program. I'm not gonna waste my time getting a degree in some other subject just because of location. That seems pointless to me. But a chance to do art with others that are interested and get that creative vibe going again. Besides I know a few cats that have done well for themselves after scad, as well have been taught by a few teacher at my own school that graduated there and they got nothing but praise for the school. Also damn near most of my credits now will transfer over to scad as opposed to the university here.
The thing I've heard about scad is that you really have to want it and push yourself though. If the teachers wont jump to push you, you'll have to be critical of yourself and push for your breakthroughs and a decisive direction.
Hell I've waited years to hear stories from Les and others about the curriculum or the different projects they've worked on so I had an idea of what I was actually getting into. Which projects were fun, which were a bitch?

Jerry's gonna be in the new vol. of BAM Too! and his art doesn't suck either.

Alot of these cats from the old Atomicpants Message board and Failure went to scad if I'm not mistaken.

What year did you stop going to scad and how long did you attend? Les is my age, only like 3 months older than me.
