I remember at one point his internet server was very slow for days and he made the comment that he was considering not posting anymore if the speed didn't pick up.

Desperation was a pretty good novel written by Stephen King...However, it should also be used as a title for a book written by (and about) several members of Comicon.com (most of the names of which can be found in the posts above).
