I think the only way to make a statement with comic books nowadays is either nudity or violation or detail even the detail doesn't seem to work any more. Masamune Shirow his stuff is tuff his later stuff is kinda weak though once he went digital his stuff lost power. Even though I think he still roughs out his drawings.

Detail does work but you have to be sincere about it I mean who the fuck is going to spend as much time as Geoff Darrow on trying to beat the detail in Hard Boiled it's just insane.

Rick Veitch's rare bit fiends was a good attempt at dream comics but how many people remember that shit? I think the idea was good but they way he displayed it didn't have the same power as he envisioned it that was carried out by his dreams.

Dreams are usually random and don't mean shit but it's a good way to get in touch with yourself without thinking about trying to be the next picasso.

One thing I noticed that gets more acceptance is inking styles...

Mobeius Geoff Darrow and Frank Miller in earlier days Frank says he inks in Line Clear which is using lines then filling in the black later. The way Sim did it was on Illus. Board so his stuff was always tight but I hate inking on Bainbridge I hate drawing on it more even seems so rigid and fake. But sim told Bisette that to start inking without paying attention to the pencil line and you get a more distinct line. LIke the ink line is in control instead of the pencil directing everything like a puzzle.
This is what makes the Line Clear guys distinct.

I'm inking with markers from now on and using a dip pen whenever I want something else.

I was just pissed I couldn't use a dip pen but now I can use both.

Stephen Platt's stuff looked like the shit and he used markers.

Bioshock 2 is pretty much the same as the first I see why it got the ratings it did. Same engin same graphics same shit.
