That's what you get when you use The Sprinting Dead. Romero Zombies can be used more liberally throughout the story because they're not that dangerous individually.

Wasn't the reason given in 28 Days that the zombies have a shelf life? But Mike brings up a relevant difference between the lumbering and sprinting varieties: the former places the focus on the survivor's mental state -- will he finally just give in to the trudge of current existence? -- whereas the latter is more about just trying to stay alive long enough for the next action scene. Dawn of the Dead wouldn't really work with the sprinters.

I always thought Heathers was both.

Man, I gave up 20 minutes in, just couldn't take it. Everything here was already better covered in Running Scared (not the Billy Crystal one), but it wasn't necessarily meant to be a satire, which makes it all the more perfect.

It gets more entertaining as it gets further into the movie -- sort of -- but yea. You're not missing any essential viewing.

It is, but it often seems that people don't get the difference. Christian Slater blowing himself up and Winona Ryder standing there covered in human soot - black comedy. Shannen Doherty starting out as the sweet, literary whipping girl of the Heathers clique only to become an even more heartless bitch than Heather #1 when she gets her chance - satire.

The science of zombies on Talk of the Nation.

About 25 minutes into the show, the psychiatrist addresses the neural differences between the slow and fast zombies.

The best explanation of fast-vs-slow zombies was in the first House of the Dead. Say what you will, that wasn't a bad movie.

It was a bad movie.

I saw it on the Sci-Fi channel and couldn't tell it wasn't one of their made for TV crap fests. House of the Dead II was ultra-cheesy but was at least more watchable than the first.

Argh. You must not watch many horror movies then. The first was superior in every way.

They're fast when they're new, and they get slower as rigor mortis sets in.
