Human Centipede showed up on Redbox last week. I rented it this morning. Putting it in the player now...

Is it anything more than just simulated fetish porn? Simulated, that is, because no one would actually be allowed to surgically attach one person's mouth to another person's butt.

Aww, I thought the villain was funny enough to carry it. It looks pretty amateurish. And, no, Mike, it's not torture porn or obsessed with gore. It's more about the mad doctor, something like a 1950s sci-fi horror film. The poster above gets it right.

It took fifty minutes to get to where we knew it was going in the first place. The second and third acts were about twenty minutes apiece. Not much gore, not much titties (for some reason, I was thinking all three were supposed to be girls), not much tension, not much sense. A weak-ass effort, basically. I think it was made on a national grant or something.
The commentary track is supposed to be pretty hilarious, but the rental DVD doesn't have it.

Allen, you should seek out A SERBIAN FILM online (you might need to look for SRPSKI FILM). There's a torrent of a screener available, since it's unlikely to be shown in most of the US. I think it'll give you everything you need in a horror film.

"Probably the most disturbing is a 3 minute scene in which a woman gives birth and her baby is raped."
Yow.

I'm sure it's helpful and interesting to others. It's just that I'd get a better understanding of a film by reading sentences from a random word generator. Mike

Well, I linked to and quoted Ebert, who gives a plot summary and a star rating. On the other hand, he does begin to drift by discussing morality and aesthetics. HC grossed $191,099 worldwide, 19 domestic theaters, probably fewer elsewhere. I aim to please.
