Wouldn't it be easier to just wear a "Q for JB" t-shirt, (maybe even a matching hat?) and carry around 3x5 cards for people to fill out?

And a little bag full of those small pencils. Maybe you could hand out "Q for JB" buttons. You could fit all that in one back-pack easy.

And maybe take video of all the questions. (You might need a press pass, Lawson could loan you his maybe or just walk around with you while he's wearing it).

And maybe you should spell out the word "questions" so it reads "Questions for JB" just so it doesn't get confusing.

I'd laugh if a lot of people at a comics convention in 2010 didn't even know who John Byrne was.

There wasn't a big audience for THE ALL-NEW ATOM or STAR TREK: ALIEN SPOTLIGHT. Or DOOM PATROL. Or any other comic Byrne has cranked out in many years. Those of us who remember his work fondly are remembering comics he drew 25 to 35 years ago.

I wonder that most people have the level of interest in Byrnisms that this forum does. We seem to be the age that things like Bryne comments have importance, whereas people older still into comics don't give a shit, they were into Neal Adams, or far younger and think Byrne isn't that much different than the old farts here who bitch about him.

I am not saying, at all, that Byrne isn't a stinky turd to many folks, and I think he banned Frank Lauro for the reasons people here suspect, but, I am willing to bet everyone who posts in these threads are between 35 and 50, or, we were 15 or so when we started seeing Byrne and liking his work.

All that being said, Lawson still is King of the Nerds and Snoid is the sexiest bastard alive.

Isn't that pretty much all that's purchasing comic books these days? Fans of at least 25 to 35 years (not of age, of course)?

I found John Byrne's Twitter account!

Of course, this is John A. Byrne, the former editor of Business Week magazine, not John Byrne, cranky asshole and semi-retired cartoonist recluse.

But this John Byrne sounds like a douchebag, too. (Does anyone not sound like a douchebag on Twitter?) Among other things, he lets us know that he's a wine enthusiast (always a good douchebag sign) and that he personally communicates with former General Electric chairman Jack Welch.

JohnAByrne@JMikeSmith True enough.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but for me, goofing on Byrne and the Byrnebots -- well, just Paul around here -- became a thing a while ago, to be done for its own pleasures. It's now our running inside joke. It has nothing to do with anyone's actual level of interest in Byrne himself.

As far as I can tell, most people who attend comics conventions are in this boat, yes. And yet -- I've seen a lot of Silver and Bronze age artists sitting at their booths more or less ignored by fans who would stand in line for an hour to get the signature of this year's Hot Young Talent. I'm talking about old artists who were as talented and prolific as Byrne was in his prime. So I'm always surprised by how quickly the fans forget you.

Do fans still believe that comic books are an investment? Comic books that are published these days & produced by these flavors of the month?
