Here's another nice example of Byrne's rudeness to foreigners, in this thread:

A few other members weigh in pro and con, then Byrne says:

Then a poster from Austria makes the mistake of having a different opinion.
One of the few times when I actually liked the JL series.
To which Byrne sneers:
Clearly, you belong to that target audience of which I spoke.
Another poster mounts a mild defense of Thorben:
Wouldn't he have only been 14 or 15 when it came out?

And Thorben concurs:
You are spot-on.
BTW in German-speaking countries comics usually got released years later. So when I read JLI that must've been in 1989 or 1990. I think they didn't even completely release it, so I missed the decrease of quality people wrote about in this thread.
It's not so much about being "too old", it was just that I couldn't get into the old "Gerechtigkeitsliga", as it was called here. I like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and all of them, but as team it did never clicked .
Probably one of the reasons was that Superman was nowhere to be seen. Before that I was always thinking "Superman could solve this alone, why the JL?".
Byrne doesn't comment again over the next four pages of the topic. (Just kidding about the foreigners thing, BTW. Byrne seems to treat people of all nations the same.)
