In any case, people are purchasing multiple copies of certain issues just to get their hands on the multiple covers. BLEH! As most publishers are discovering much to their frustration, this is hardly being practiced to any sort of significant degree anymore.

JB: As near as I can figure, he seems to be one of those people who was "personally offended" by my work on Superman. If that really is the case, all I can say is "Twenty years now. Time to move on!"Nice to know that he'll stop moaning about the cancellation of X-Men: Hidden Years sometime before 2021. So, you compare someone mistakenly taking something personally to someone getting screwed over? Over at that happy land known as the JBF they have one of their easy-going rules stating that if one of your threads gets locked down, you are not to ask why. Simply know that there was a reason. The same is true in publishing. When a book or project is cancelled, simply know it was the decision of the publisher. Maybe the book was not selling to his satisfaction. Maybe there's been a drastic change in the editorial direction of a particular office. Maybe the publisher just flat out hates you. Whatever the reason is, it is irrelevant to the freelancer. If your the freelancer, don't ask why. Don't take to the Internet crying and bad mouthing your former employers (Future employers really love this!) Simply hope that you weren't the reason the project was cancelled, wish your former clients well, and express your sincere desire to one day work with them again. Don't gripe about wanting a reason. Simply know there was one.

Anyone who still buys multiple copies of anything is out of their goddamn mind and needs help There are probably still a couple of obsessive nutjobs out there who still need two of every first issue that comes along, but this is no longer the day of Giant-Sized X-Men #1 or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. Nothing is giving back that kind of return anymore. The speculators have woken up and realized the bad investment comics are and they've mostly left the field.

Let's dissect this post, shall we? "I was talking with an old friend about the days when we were both comicbook collectors and X-Men fans and our old debate resurfaced: What is the shape of Wolverine's claws? I always figured they were kinda . . . teardrop-shaped, I suppose. Round at the top, but coming to a point underneath (for slashing). He's always maintained that the claws are blade-shaped, like knives - and flat. I figured that I may as well settle this once and for all! Thanks!" Now,given JB"s...tendencies...he's probably dealing with it internally right now. His thought process being something along the lines of "Not this fucking question again. Hmmm, 3 hundred and something posts, joined in 2008...<whirrrr,click click whirrr> really isn't on my radar for being a douche,...ughhhh <whirr click clack> I got better things to do that could make me money instead of typing out my response for the hundreth fucking time about how I draw them and take a dig atFrank Millers samauri blade claws...I wish i didn't have that rule that if a question is addressed to me only I can answer it...fuck...I'll hold off and hope it get's buried..."

Based on what he mentions, is he incorrect? In any case, people are purchasing multiple copies of certain issues just to get their hands on the multiple covers. BLEH! Yep. There are probably only 20.000 people buying 50.000 of a 20$ hardcover that just got one cover. What would JB say? Don't cloud the issue with facts.

Anyone who still buys multiple copies of anything is out of their goddamn mind and needs help Indeed. I told this story elsewhen, but my one & only time working in a comic book store (prior to the literal collapse of the industry in the late 90's) I witnessed a customer purchasing & bagging & boarding multiple issues of a lot of comics. Being the shy guy that I am I asked him what he was doing. The response? Investing in my kids future. I can't recall all of the comic books that he was purchasing on that day, but I do remember one was Trinity #1 (which was, IIRC, some sort of crossover with Green Lantern & Darkstars). I remember discussing it with the comic book store owners & they were happy to be selling to this guy & they told me business had never been better because of these types of customers. A few months later they had to close down their stores & file for bankruptcy after these idiotic investors headed for greener pastures.

The same is true in publishing. It is? Since when? When a book or project is cancelled, simply know it was the decision of the publisher. Maybe the book was not selling to his satisfaction. Maybe there's been a drastic change in the editorial direction of a particular office. Maybe the publisher just flat out hates you. Whatever the reason is, it is irrelevant to the freelancer. LOL! You really believe this? How very...odd. If your the freelancer, don't ask why. Don't take to the Internet crying and bad mouthing your former employers (Future employers really love this!) Simply hope that you weren't the reason the project was cancelled, wish your former clients well, and express your sincere desire to one day work with them again. What a load of BS. Don't gripe about wanting a reason. Simply know there was one. OK. Since this one is already public knowledge...What ONE reason was given for X-Men: Hidden Years being canceled? Better yet, what one LOGICAL reason was given for X-Men: Hidden Years being canceled? Mind you, you don't really need to answer this because it's a trick question...but you know this.
