It's interesting to see old names who participated in the thread who have long since become non-persons at the Byrne Forum. Especially Dave Pruitt. Hard to believe Byrne would eventually ban such an obsequious toadie over a "pattern of annoying behavior." Has Dave Pruitt been banned? I thought he was bullet proof.

Byrne's never passed up an opportunity to spit at Alan Moore. Good God! That Lost Generation of his!!!! Oofah!!! Question for JB... Was your version of the Vision in The Avengers West Coast at all inspired by Moore's Doctor Manhattan? Both characters are emotionally distant, enjoy monochrome looks and bare feet. Coincidence? I know I"m breaking a cardinal rule by answering before JB does but he has been known to reply to those types of questions with a "If there are any similarities they were unintentional as I did not have that character in mind when redoing the vision." JB--you can use that response if you want. I wouldn't mind. Goodwill and all that...

Has Dave Pruitt been banned? I thought he was bullet proof. My bad. I mixed up Pruitt and Frank Lauro. Still, from Pruitt's responses in the Wikipedia thread, it's hard to believe Byrne could have EVER done anything to offend the guy.

Considering Byrne has written and printed fake fan letters to his comics, I have little doubt he's posting online under another name. This, and the other implicating posts, smacks of paranoia. What fake fan letters?

Still manages to peddle his wares, so to speak, in the Buy, Sell, Trade section of JB's site. And more power to him for that.

What fake fan letters? The ones he's admitted to writing and including in the Fantastic Four letter's page. Another one of his little lessons, showing fans how to write proper fan letters.

Oh man, that Wikipedia thread is the exact kind of hilarity that keeps people coming back to the John Byrne Forum to watch the train wrecks. Leaving the Wikipedia-themed insanity aside for the time being... this quote kept nagging at my brain, and I couldn't figure out where I'd heard something very similar before: Did you know I "constantly" draw myself into the books? Apparently, "constantly" meaning a dozen or so pages out of about 20,000 drawn. But once stated, this becomes the same kind of internet "factoid" that gets repeated and absorbed by the unthinking masses. Then it hit me: Byrne is channeling Arnold Rimmer.Constantly fails the exam? I'd hardly call eleven times "constantly." I mean, if you eat roast beef eleven times in your life, one would hardly say that person constantly eats roast beef. No, it would be a rare, nay freak occurrence.

I DO recall JB admitting that he was required (an apparent editorial mandate back then) to respond to fan letters that were published in the books as though it wasn't he himself responding.
