Paul: "there are a few (not going to name names) that seem to go out of their way (so to speak) to TRY to stir things up & certainly NOT for a positive purpose. So, these few latch onto what THEY consider to be a fallen star. Doesn't say anything good about them & their opportunistic ways."
Irony, wot. Ouch. I never saw THAT one coming from a zillion miles away. Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more!

Um, once again...look at both images. Nothing was copied & pasted. They were both obviously separate drawings. Nice try, though. I didn't say that. Where did I say that Byrne copy and pasted it? I said it's part of the work to come up with a cool cover. Not just the act of putting the lines to the paper. Using the same composition, even redrawn, is lazy. It's not as lazy as c&p, but it's lazy nonetheless, and sure not "anything but" lazy. "Aynthing but lazy" would have been to come up with a new composition.

3) How exactly did troy insult "pretty much all of the current comic book talent pool" Most of the current creative talents are writing self-indulgent fan fiction & since good 'ol Troy sees this as a detriment, then he's insulting quite a few individuals (unintentional though it may be). So in other words, what you actually mean is that you think that the stuff is being publiushed by DC and Marvel is fan fiction? So troy never insulted anyone you did.

Perhaps I misunderstood your words. I was reacting to the following... And I have never ever seen someone us ea copy & pasted image from the story pages for the cover. So what makes you think hes "anything but" lazy. He's been lazy. Not as lazy as he could have been, but as lazy as he could get away with.My apologies for jumping the gun, there. I interpreted those words as though they implied you saying something along the lines of "I've never seen anyone copy & paste, etc., until NOW..." That's the second time this year I made such an error! I'm going to agree to disagree with you there. IMO, apparently JB decided that a similar image would make for a cool cover (or vice-versa if he drew the cover first, then decided a similar image would be cool for an interior scene). JB's track record for being "anything but lazy" still stands.

We both did (and I have absolutely no problem admitting it). Troy was, IMO, shooting for something detrimental to say about JB (although, I can't figure out why since he's usually so glowingly positive!) & in his haste he made a slam (albeit perhaps inadvertently) most of today's creative force. And the words I used (as did Poor Troy) were self-indulgent fan fiction, which is entirely different from those talents that actually honor & respect the original stories from which they work from.

Clearly. The logic Paul uses here would have Ceci slapping him around for the next ten pages of this thread. Troy: "Hey! John Byrne looks pretty dumb wearing that cowboy hat." Paul: "Did you hear that? Troy just insulted everyone who wears hats!" Hey! I'm not a big fan of what's happening in comics lately but there's a huge difference between writing a bad Batman story and scribbling out a masturbatory fantasy answering the never asked question of what Dr. McCoy did in between the original Star Trek series and that first movie.

I don't know why this sarcastic crack was necessary. I've always been a fan of Byrne's work. His FF was the best since Stan and Jack and honestly, the FF has never been as good since he left. It's too bad that personally Byrne is an ass.

Here's a thread serving up a good amount of entertainment value... http://www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36590&PN=1&TPN=1Kirk Campbell may be a relatively new member of the JBF but he knows how things work over there and how to score points. He starts a poll putting up Byrne's work against two relatively recent retcons that contradict and negate Byrne's work. Hmmm... I wonder which one is going to win here? A couple of other points to watch... 1) Byrne draws another of his important distinctions between words in a post where he defines how an emblem is different from a logo. 2) Byrne slams a age from Quitely's All-Star Superman. I have to say... I'm not a big Quitely fan... although it has nothing to do with Byrne's reasons here. 3) Is Frank Gurstelle actually challenging Byrne on Page 4?

Byrne's idea of who and what Superman is perfectly illustrates the big problem with Byrne. For him there is a right way (his way) and a wrong way. There's no nuance.
