Fair enough. Just going on Byrne's statements in the FAQ. Whether he walked out or was shown the door, he puts the blame on Jim Lee. (And Whilce Portacio, and on the characters for not being ones he wanted to write.)

Whether it is right or wrong to do so is entirely another issue. I think people ought to be upfront but that doesn't mean they are.

I agree. There would be much less ammunition for the Detractors™ to use against JB if he'd actually cop to some of his foot-in-mouth moments. He's a stubborn fool, sometimes.

Believe it or else, Lab Rats was contracted for longer (I can't recall exactly how much longer, but I'm leaning towards 12 issues), but apparently JB realized that sales sucked & even though DC offered to fulfill the contract, JB willingly let the series end when it did. What a cad!

Have you an example of him being drawn with an 'O' mouth? Just curious as to what you mean.

Nothing specific regarding Wolverine, Byrne just seems to get into a habit of drawing characters with their mouths gaping open.

This is all from Byrne's FAQ. These are his stated reasons.

As Ceci beautifully illustrates here, you rarely have to go beyond Byrne's own words to say to yourself, "Geez! This guy sure quits a lot of jobs!"

Even if I'd never heard of Byrne's reputation, just reading through his own FAQ section would trigger the ol' spider-sense that this guy's stories sound just a little too similar and a little too loaded.

In this thread, Byrne is asked about his departure from the FF and the Avengers. He gives a very brief response:

Regarding what made him leave the FF and the Avengers, Byrne answers:

"No more plots came."

JB: Congrats on your announcement for the final sketch of 2010. However, this latest piece didn't do it for me. Upon viewing for the first time the reaction I had was along the lines of: "Jesus, another Spidey with black suit swinging over the cityscape?"
http://www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=37196

May I suggest you implement a rule that you have imposed a moratorium on the spidey black suit swinging over cityscape?

Thanks!

I dunno my liege, I really like this one. Maybe though I haven't seen the previous ones to make that sort of assessment.
