Great sketch, JB! Man, it's great to see you put all this effort into these when your rule is you don't want to know who it's for so you don't show favoritism in what you draw. Oh, wait, it's for your buddy Jim Warden. That explains ALOT. As my pal, shjonescrk, mentions, JB traded the piece for an original Jack Kirby page from Fantastic Four #5 (the first FF issue that JB read). What a cad JB is for forcing Jim Warden to make such an unfair deal!

Fred is very respectful of JB's opinion. He damn well better be! If not, Fred can go and talk to Poor Lars about what happens when you disagree with ol' JB! Yeah! Poor Lars has suffered such torment & sadness over the incident. At least they have each other to comfort during these dark times. ... Fred (the ONE person who SHOULD be offended) Yeah! Damn it! It was Fred's dream that got crapped on! Why should the rest of us care? Break out the torches & pitchforks!

Fred handled it in the best way possible.
He shut up and took it. He did? Seems like he continued to express his happiness about his purchase even after JB tried to dash his hopes & dreams on the jagged rocks below. I wonder if he'll ever share the acquisition of another slabbed dream book on that forum ever again. I wonder if Fred will win the lottery? ...Fred being a mature individual...
As with Poor Lars, we once again see maturity being equated with passively swallowing a big bucket-full of Byrne's rudeness. In the face of such insidiously damning behavior from JB, both men showed they were better persons by not stooping to the abysmal depths as displayed by the evil that is John Byrne. Kudos to them for their strength & fortitude in the face of such overwhelming odds.

Oh, wait, it's for your buddy Jim Warden. That explains ALOT. Whoops! Relatively new member Anthony Warlow stepped into it arousing this lesson on Phrases JB Doesn't Like... I guess I will go to my grave without successfully convincing some people to stop using phrases like "What, no love for ________?" So trite. So boring. And such a fricking pain in the ass when I bust my hump on a piece like this, and that's the comment someone has to offer. sighPoor Jim! How dare JB rain all over Jim's parade! The audacity of JB! The utter carelessness! The unmitigated gall! Don't fret, Jim! We here at Comicon.com have your back (We are a team, right?)! Don't let JB get away with this (my homage to Omar!) crime against all that is good & holy in this world! Hey, Troy! Where are the torches & pitchforks, man??? Time's a wastin'!

In the same thread, Bryne shows a Kirby page he traded for the commission and says:
"Art Lesson for the Growers of Roses:.."
Now apart from inside Byrne's head, does anyone else use this phrase? Byrne loves this inside language he's created which is loaded with phrases and terms that make sense only to himself and the JBF. He keeps talking about "red sweaters" a lot too. I have no idea what that means.

Ah! Sarcasm disguising a missed point and masking excused bad behavior. Break out the torches & pitchforks!
Nah. Just put away the whitewash.

Seems like he continued to express his happiness about his purchase even after JB tried to dash his hopes & dreams on the jagged rocks below. No. He continued to express his happiness IN SITE of JB's unwarranted lecturing. I wonder if Fred will win the lottery?
Fred: "Hey Guys! I won the Lottery!!" Byrne: "Gee! I hope the money isn't counterfeit!" Tim O'Neil: "If I won the lottery, I'd give the money to the poor instead of being greedy and keeping it for myself!" Lee Nail: "Couldn't we just say 'Congrats, Fred' and leave it at that?" Byrne: "Let me tell you all why the lottery sucks and lottery winners are ruining the country...!" Tim O'Neil: "Hey! Fred asked for it!" In the face of such insidiously damning behavior from JB, both men showedblahblahblahblahblahblahhhh....
More sarcasm. Bottom line here is that Byrne was rude and insensitive towards both Fred and Lars and it's a hopeless fantasy to excuse it as anything else.

Ah! Upon reading this bit of insightful satire, I now realize Byrne was indeed being the model of a polite gentlemen when after someone announced the realization of a life long dream, he shit on it. Well done, John! Well done.

He has done these detailed drawings for him before as a commission. Looking at the piece of art he traded for, I gotta say I think Warden made out on the deal as I don't share the sentimental reasons Byrne has.

I fully realized that you jumped the gun, but I know you do this stuff with humorous intentions, so more power to you! That said, I agree. Jim Warden made out like a bandit IMO. Of course, JB certainly doesn't feel that way, so it kind of balances things between them don't you think?
