I'm getting it, but only as a support of creator-owned works actually done by their creators.

The series was originally slated to be 50 issues (as I recall), so hopefully, sales will be good enough to at least bring the story to an end. I reread the old issues a few weeks ago, and I think it holds up as some of Byrne's best work.

I don't buy anymore but would read/skim it if someone let me borrow it. Never was a fan of his creator owned stuff.

Is that just a starting point for you, Allen? Presumably if you don't rate the book, you'll drop it after a few issues or will you stick with it through thick and thin just because it's creator owned?

Dunno. I dropped it before when it got boring for me. I thought I'd stick with Cerebus all 300 issues, but got tired of it sometime during Jaka's Story. Basically, I just want Byrne to let go of his WFH aspirations, because I know he's got more than that in him. It's up to Byrne how long I stay.

That's a laugh.

Tunnel vision is a common problem from certain naysayers around these here parts.

Sure is. The real entertainment is watching them tear each other apart in the politics and religion threads.

I really doubt that if Byrne could really get something anywhere else, that we would be seeing any new Next Men at all. I've seen his work when his heart really isn't in it so I'm passing on this. I'm sure though that there is enough interest out there to make this a modest success by current market and IDW standards. I hope it succeeds.

I was there for a big chunk of the original Next Men run. I still had faith in those days that Byrne could deliver. Unfortunately the story unfolded with a dragged-out, meandering, making it up as he went along kind of feeling. It never really seem to go anywhere or really deliver any kind of pay-off.

I preferred his Danger Unlimited. If he'd brought that back, I'd be interested.

The Political Musings thread is a perfect example of why that board and a number of it's members have the reputation that they do. Guy with a low post count posts an opposing view, Al Cock labels him a troll and wants everybody to put him on ignore, new guy continues to post in a polite manner while being called an idiot and a douchebag, and then the new guy gets banned.
You would think Byrne or one of his mods would step in and tell Cock and his buddies to lay off the personal insults, but no, ban the newer guy for posting a different point of view.

I imagine that if Next Men does well, he may return to Danger Unlimited
