I'd call it a close second to "war on terror."

Perhaps it's by changing to target more explicity an older audience that has kept Marvel and DC going.

The lack of basic knowledge shown by this posting makes it way to complicated to discuss this topic any further.

And where do you get your knowledge from, oh wise one, so that I can see the error of my ways?

Sorry. You are right. I am wrong. Move on. Nothing to see.

No. This was just one slash across the wrists in the suicide Marvel and DC are perpetrating on themselves. They only "keep going" because their death is a slow one.

The JBF Reading Group is kicking off a look Jack Kirby's Fourth World series! From this thread...

http://www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=37129&PN=1&TPN=1

Byrne says...

"...This was another series like HIDDEN YEARS that I might very well still be doing, had the circumstances been other than what they were.

Those circumstances on JK4W were quite different from what transpired on XHY, of course. As I have since revealed, but could not at the time, my decision to leave FOURTH WORLD was informed by Paul Kupperberg's stated intent to leave his editorial position at DC. Since my contracts on FOURTH WORLD and WONDER WOMAN (another book handled by Paul's office) were both approaching their expiration point, and I had no way of knowing who might be appointed as PK's successor, I elected not to renew, rather than risk being trapped in year long contracts under editors I did not want to work with."

In other words... "I quit because the editor, a close personal friend quit, and there was a chance I'd have to work with someone I didn't like."

Then Byrne adds...

"Of course, since I was not able to reveal these "behind the scenes" details at the time -- and since Paul ultimately decided, too late, to stick around a while longer -- my departure was greeted by the bashers as yet another "ample" of my inability to stay on titles."

In other words... "I quit that book but I don't understand why people always say I'm always quitting books!"

Byrne defends with...

"This despite the fact that I had done more issues of WONDER WOMAN than I did of UNCANNY X-MEN!"

In other words... "I was on that book I quit longer than I was on that other book I quit so I should get a pass."

And the reason he tweaked WW's costume to 2 or 3 stars on the panites as opposed to the many stars she had on them is because he said it was too many to draw.

Odd. It seems that JB's words were rather straightforward & required no interpretation...unless, of course, you believe some of your fellow naysayers are too stupid to...um...never mind.

I have no doubts that JB has a complete understanding of why what he calls bashers (and I call, among other accurate terms, Detractors) say the inept things that they say.

Once again, there's no need to interpret JB's words as they are very straightforward & clear...at least to those without negative agendas, of course.

Wow! As expected Poor Troy misses the point...again.

I quit with WW primarily because it was there that he started forgetting about basic anatomical proportions. Also, his panel layouts were getting pointlessly weird.

Has the issue ever been addressed as to why Brian Bolland quit doing the WW covers just as Byrne came on; and why the guy who was supposed to replace him, the normally very prolific José Luis Garcia-Lopez, did so few of the covers in Byrne's run?

A death that has been predicted many times by many different people and yet, it hasn't happened yet. Odd that.
