Find and watch his Archie videos. NOW.

They are HILARIOUS.

Pure YouTube gold!

I remember when Hawes' "fight" with Archie was going on. It was right around the time Marvel killed off Steve Rogers. Hawes, being a brilliant satirist, made one of his videos in which he announced that Archie Comics was going to kill their flagship character, Archie. This moon-faced Oscar Wilde thought he was carving new roads in the fields of satire. Archie, however, didn't appreciate rumors being started that their flagship character was going to be killed and they asked Hawes to stop saying so or to add a statement onto his video that it was indeed a parody.

Well, you'd think the Nazi stormtroopers had kicked in Hawes' door and hauled his family away on a train! This guy started churning out video after video where he whines about how his freedom of speech was being violated. There are at least half a dozen of these videos with this balloon-cheeked fool screaming into the wind. Going by those videos, Dr. Fever linked to above, Hawes has gotten access to a computer and someone to do some graphics and editting work for him. In the days of his war against Archie, his videos were devoid of any editting, writing, rehearsing or anything else that would make them seem like something other than the stream of nonsense ramblings of a chipmunk-cheeked clown.

Naturally, this guy took his cause to the JBF which is where I first took notice of him. I can't remember what the result of his insane crusade was, but as a monument to childishness and idiocy, his ten or so videos remain up on YouTube.

To be fair, Alex, if I were this obsessed with John Byrne, I'd post under a fake name too.

I'm waiting for the 100th episode of Cerebus TV and then I'll post in the accompanying thread.

Obviously.

But no, the comedy of those Archie videos has nothing to do with his appearance, voice or mannerisms. They're funny because they were an ongoing public meltdown, and those are always good for a laugh.

The wrap-up can be seen on this thread. Minus a smattering of side comments over the course of the next year, that was the last Comicon saw of Mr. Hawes.

Quick! Dig up that list of topics that are forbidden for discussion at the JBF! There's apparently a NEW addition!

Pretty soon commission threads and the thread on the latest issue of Next Men are all that's going to be allowed over there!

I am not against a person telling others he is done commenting on a discussed subject, but I wonder why he just can't ignore said discussion.
