Of course, I realize that you're just chiming in to join in on the pettiness, but there's a very slight chance that you're actually ignorant (cue Muttley laugh).

Oh come on Paul, that's a fair criticism. The Batman leg position, though convenient to the artist, is a bit awkward. As is the Spider-man figure, (looks like a Charlie Brown sweater), both just a little off. Still a cool, fun drawing.

It would normally appear on the opposite side to his left leg, but in the image it's helping to keep him steady & balanced on the roof's edge.

I just went back and checked and it's just badly drawn. If the picture was in a comic, you read the dialog and move on to the next panel so it all looks okay. But when it's a commission, presumably meant to be hung on a wall somewhere, it's a piece of artwork that is going to looked at in depth and frankly, it's not good enough to meet this criteria.

Typical Detractor nonsense. There are no fair criticisms of John Byrne.

In the thread about NM#3, Felicity Walker makes a good point about the inconsistent, or at least complex, characterization of Dr. Jorgensen:

Quote:
John Byrne wrote:

"Nor would he have described himself as such, any more than he would have called himself a Communist. He was one of those scientists who--often unfortunately--worries only about the work, and not who's paying the bills!"

Well, he did worry about it that one time...

I avoided this earlier in case it was speculation, but since the topic has explicitly come up, and JB has engaged it...I can see our scientist being brought to the US via Paperclip, like Geist. I can even see him being the type of scientist who will pretend to have any political belief ("Communism is the only real hope for the world") to get access to what he wants.

On the other hand, he seemed so anti-militaristic in issue #6 ("I wouldn't put it past the god-damn army..." and " 'Weapon'? We're not creating weapons here. This is about bettering mankind!" and "...but I can damn well make sure a proper balance is maintained in the world!").

Now that we know about this latest facet of his past, it's interesting to reread these scenes in a new light. He ranges from amoral opportunism to idealistic naivete. I look forward to seeing more of his story to find out the real truth. For example, I wonder if his choice of venue in 1955 had anything to do with Nathan?

Fair criticism would have been worded properly ("The leg appears awkward in such a position."). Special Delivery Jones (one of the more vocal & obviously confused Detractors) was, IMO, going for petty.

Spider-Man, being a very flexible character (as I mentioned earlier), has been depicted to contort his body parts at various odd angles (don't swing at the easy ones, please). So, the character being in motion, I see nothing even a "little off."

And the Charlie Brown reference is indeed humorous. That's just the luck of the draw (pun not intended...REALLY!), though.

That's a very valid opinion (even if I do disagree with it). However, the customer asked for & received what he paid for & he appears to be very pleased with the finished product (Absolutely no need to say otherwise due to JB's "Don't Like, Don't Pay" policy). Even if you get a consensus of dissenting opinions from your fellow Detractors (what are the odds?), the bottom line is that the person who paid for it was satisfied & that's all that REALLY counts.

Flavio just has to ruin the good vibe by questioning jb's accuracy of the thing's teeth rule in this
pretty good sketch

I was unaware the Thing had or did not have teeth. And honestly, he is made of rock so what the hell do I care.
